Hard drive being accessed every second.

The hard drive light comes on about once a second. If I look in the Task Manager, I see that explorer.exe is page faulting at about the same rate. I don't even have Windows Explorer open. I have tried making the page file as large as is allowed, but that didn't help.
 
You seem to have unwittingly invited adware or spyware onto your computer.
Now you must install one of the many adware/spyware removers available on
the Internet. Here are three popular choices (alphabetically):

Ad-aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Pest Patrol: http://www.pestpatrol.com/
Spybot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/

Many adware and spyware programs are specifically designed to be difficult
to remove, and some may be impossible to remove without damaging your
system.
