I have a question regarding hard drive imaging / backup software.
A lot of the programs I've seen like to duplicate the partition they
backup when restoring... i.e., a 12 gigabyte partition image will
restore but will create a 12 gig partition in the process to which to
restore data. Is there any software that will say... take all the data
from a partition, back it up, and when restoring it, place it in a
variable size partition - i.e., restoring a 9500 meg operating system
that had resided on a 12 gig drive to a 120 gig drive, to a different
size partition than the original?
I know there are some softwares you could use in tandem - for example,
a partition management program used after restoring a drive would allow
you to resize the primary partition post restoration...
I'm inquiring for a user that runs windows xp, currently using a 12 gig
HD as a primary master, with an 80 gig drive as a slave.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
