I have recently done a fresh install of Vista Business RTM on Dell 620
laptop, on a SBS 2003 network.

The Hard Disk Drive is about 80 GB with:

C:\ partion 49 GB (System, Boot, Page File, Active Crash Dump, Primary
Partion)

and 25.65 GB unallocated.

The Vista scores are:

Processor 4.8
RAM 4.9
Graphics 2.8
Gaming Graphics 3.1
Disk Transfer Rate 4.8

I don't like having my hard disk clicking away all day long. Is there a
probable reason for this? Where is the best place to start looking to
resolve? There must be some reason for this...

Thanks,

Boolean1

It could be indexing, this can take quite some time on a fresh install. Once
it is done, it will stop doing that. You can also open the Performance panel
(whatever it is called) and see what process is hitting the disk.

Yes, the Search Indexer...maybe.

I just caught that. It actually seems to have stopped now, and there's more
quietness. We'll see how long this lasts.

Thanks

Everything is fine. :P............
There is no reason to think that because your drive is running constantly
that it may fail faster than normal.
Everyone repeat...IN HARMONY AND UNISON.....WE HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF
SUCH A THING HAPPENING...IT IS NOT POSSIBLE, IT MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH
YOUR MACHINE...EVERYTHING IS FINE...WE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING

HAPPEN...
