I would like to receive an answer to the following questions:

on my computer (IBM Intellistation M Pro) have been installed two hard
disks
06P5752 IBM 73,4 GB Non Hot-Swap 3.5" 10K Ultra 160 SCSI.

Is it possible to replace the above Hard Disks with two
32P0725 IBM 146 GB Non Hot Swap 3.5" 10K Ultra 320 SCSI ?

As far as I know, Ultra 320 SCSI should have data transfer rates of
320 MBps. If the controller of the hard disk installed in my machine
is Ultra 160 SCSI, the new disks Ultra 320 SCSI will adapt
automatically to a data trasfer rate of 160 MBps or they will not work
at all ? Furthermore, will they maintain the capacity of 146 GB?

Tks and regard to all.
Matteo

Matteo,

Regarding the transfer rate of 160 MB/s, you are correct. The new
drives will run at the old controller's speed. I'm not sure what the
capacity limit is for U160-compliant drives, but you don't have much to
worry about at 146GB.

Depending on whether or not you have RAID configured, you might have a
challenge ahead of you.
