Hard Disk Wipe Utility

I am attempting to wipe a hard drive clean of all contents, remove any
partitions there may be so that I can image the Laptop so to speak from
scratch,

Can anyone recommend a good Hard disk wipe utility software that I can
download and burn to CD to place into the laptop being reimaged

Mutilate file wiper, wipes file(s), folder(s), and free spaces. Has
variable user setting from simple (1 pass of all 1's, 1 pass of all
0's, or 1 pass of random) to paranoid level (9 passes of each all 1's,
all 0's, and all random) Seems to exceedes government level data
destruction.

Does not do anything at partition level though, you will need a
different program to change partition.

Can be used for free but the trial version has hidden timer. Stops
running after a while so if you got a large drive to wipe, you may
need to use a lower setting to allow a full and complete wipe or pay
for the full program.

Any Linux (e.g. RIP on a memory-stick) and

cat /dev/zero > /dev/<target>
