Hello,
I've got a new Serial ata HD and i would like to replace my old HD with
Winxp by this one.For this, I used Ghost and cloned the old HD => the new
one but when I boot with the new one, it's recognized as J:, not C:, and a
lots of things do not work. What can I do to make my new HD the primary HD
c: ?

Hi,

See if this helps:

HOW TO: Change the System/Boot Drive Letter in Windows [Q223188]
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=223188

It was written for Win2000, but the steps are the same for WinXP. Please
note that this procedure should *only* be used in cases like this, where the
system drive letter was inadvertantly changed from its original drive
letter.

This is the way I did it:

Make sure you have a working Win9x boot diskette with FDISK and FORMAT. Also
have your Ghost 2003 diskette handy.

Shut down your PC, open the case and change the jumper(s) on the current HD
(with WinXP) to Slave.

On the new HD set the jumper(s) to Master and install the drive on the
Primary IDE.

Boot the Win9x boot diskette. Run FDISK and create a primary Partition and
make it Active.

Note: if you current HD with WinXP is formatted as NTFS, win9x boot drive
will not see it.

In FDISK your drive should show put as 1 and 2 or 0 and 1 I forget. If FDISK
see's both drive I think there is a 5 other to Change Drive.

Once you have the Active Partition created Esc out of FDISK and reboot to
the Win9x boot diskette again.

Insert your Ghost 2003 diskette (XP compatible) and use the Copy option form
your old HD to the new one. If you go the wrong way both HD's will end up
BLANK.

There may be a better way but this is the way it worked for me.
