Greetings, All

I have an 8GB Maxtor HD which has been reliable for several
years.

Originally I've used it as my OS master drive.

A while back I reassigned it to be a slave drive.

Recently, during some computer power up sequences this 8GB
Maxtor clicks/ticks rhythmically for sometimes up to 10 seconds and
then it 'boings' (don't quote me on the sound :) and revs up as usual.

Disk scans done reveal no errors on any of the partitions on
this 8GB Maxtor.

Question: Is this a familiar symptom anyone has experienced?
Was it a portent of HD failure?

Thanks for your attention and for any replies.

Cheers,

GA

Sounds like your hard drive is about to fail.
