Hard disk screw advice

Hi,

I have a Compaq Presario (unfortunately) and I'm looking to buy screws to
install and additional hard disk. The usual type of hard disk screws
install, but the head isn't big enough to fit the hard disk rail. Can
someone please advise where I can buy 2.5 mm screws. Any suggestions much
appreciated.

I'm not quite sure I understand what the difficulty is in fitting the
screws. If the heads are too small then how about using a washer in between
the rail and the screw? If the heads project too much then you may want to
file them down using a grinding wheel or file.

My first reaction was to tell you to dump the Compaq for some computer other
than their propriatory hardware. I remember buying a set of their special
rails from them about 8 years ago to install a second hard drive. Their
screws weren't even standard. Excuse me, I have to call my therapist now.
 
hi jen, find your local, nearest computer repairer, they should give you the
screws, take one of yours with you to explain. best wishes..J

the amount of left over screws i have is amazing, i have a motherboard box
full of computer screws from cases, thing is whenever i take things out my
case

and put the screws to one side and then put everything back, i always have 2
screws left over so i must be missing something somewhere lol

anyhow u can never have too many screws!!
