Popsy DGE

Hello everybody,

I'm in trouble with my hard disk (Maxtor DiamonMaxPlus 9 120GB ATA 133).
It makes bad sound when it is starting (also with only the power plug).
After a few seconds, the heads hit the center of the disk, return at a
good place, and hit the center again and again...

Does anyone have an idea how to access the disk at least one more time
to bakcup data?

Popsy.

I had a Harddisk that was overheated, By cooling the Chips on the
Harddisk Plate with an Icepack I could access the Data for copying to
another Harddisk. But only 5 times for 15 minutes each.

You don't seem to have an overheating problem (but check the big chips
if they get abnormally hot) , so I have a crazy idea if you
desperately need the data:
Buy the same Harddisk a second time and exchange the plate if possible
(look for flat cables under the plate) or exchange the discs. Any
(dust) partikel can cause a haedcrash in these modern Harddisks!!!.
Or more safely: ask for a company that recovers data. Has it's price
though.
