Hard disk problem

My Windows XP do not know my secondary master hard disk drive
(sometimes).

Hope that isnt know on the biblical sense.

You can get that particular symptom from a variety of causes.

It can be that a particular drive isnt always getting power reliably,
and isnt seen when it hasnt spun up. That can be something as
simple as a loose power connector. The metal tunnels the pins go
into on the power connector can open up over time and not make
good contact. The quick check for that possibility is to use the power
connector off one of the optical drives and see if that fixes the problem.

It can be a flakey ribbon cable too. Easy to check by trying a new one
or trying the one off the optical drives if its got the same number of wires.

It can be a flakey hard drive, or just a loose jumper on the drive.

It can be a motherboard problem.

I checked it in my Setup program. The hard disk is known in my
motherboard setup program. Motherboard finds the HDD right and complete
, but WinXP do not detect it.
I think XP had some problems.
