Help, Guys! I've just installed a new Maxtor HD 120MB as a Primary Slave on
my 3yr old Windows Me PC. BIOS sees it automatically and everything looks
OK (to me) in the Setup menu, with the original HD properly identified as
Primary Master and the new HD as Primary Slave. But Windows Me is not
picking it up.....

I have looked in Device Manager in System under Control Panel, and there are
two Hard Disks shown. One has a drive letter C assigned (presumably my
original disk) and one has no drive letter assigned. It is grayed out and
won't let me edit the assignment.

Might I have got something wrong with the installation?
The BIOS setup?
Could the HD be faulty?
Do I need to do something under Windows ME to make it see the HD?

Help, please.

All the best
Steve

Have you tried creating a partition on the new disk and formatting it?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Yes, I've now sorted out the
formatting and the partitioning and all is fine!
