Hard disk noises after installing XP

Hi,
My machine ran with 2000 previously and I installed XP SP2 yesterday.
After that, the hard disk starts to noise loudly and frequently. My
Win2000 was on G: and I formated C: from FAT32 to NTFS to install the
XP. What might be going wrong?

Since the HDD noise does not depend on the OS you should check the
device for errors and replace it if necessary.
 
Download the manufacturers software and see if it shows any faults. Do it
ASAP if the drive is noisy as it could fail. Make sure you back up any
important files or you could loose them.
