Hard Disk for Caddy

I have set up a machine with a HD caddy so that I can boot into different
environments.

I want to buy 5 new disks to use in the caddy. Obviously a drive used in a
caddy takes more of a beating then a static drive.

Can anyone advise which drives are likely to stand up to the job the best. I
don't need masses of space 40gb is plenty.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Notebook drives are designed to withstand more abuse than desktop drives,
and a better choice if you feel it will actually encounter a lot of abuse.

Any typical desktop drive is fine if not being handled roughly.
A fluid-bearing model may be better than the other ball-bearing models...
searching the specs for any make/model should reveal if it's fluid or ball
bearing.

i've been using drive caddies for a few years now...
they present no problem for the drives... *however* the caddies themselves
wear out

what happens is the fine 80 conductor cables tend to break...(or else the
ide connector)
so i'd advise getting a seperate tray for each drive so you don't have to
plug and unplug the ide
cable all the time
