Hard Disk Drive Error

For the past year and maybe even more, I've been seeing this error message pop up when I'm booting up my computer; every time. Sometimes the error message stays up longer but other times it will just fly by and my Windows XP Home Edition will start loading the main screen. Since the error message about the hard disk usually flies by so fast I have trouble remembering it exactly. It says something approximate to this, **Warning: Dell's Disk Monitoring System has detected that your Hard Disk Drive(I'm not sure, but I think that it says your Primary Ide Drive 0 here) is operating outside of normal specifications. It is reccomended that you immediately back up your data and replace your Hard Disk Drive.**

SMART is a disk monitoring utility that monitors hard drive
health. As the message says, something is wrong and the
drive could fail.

Call Dell tech support, maybe the drive is under warranty.

Is there any way I could use SMART to find out what exactly is wrong or download a program that could tell me more specifically what is wrong.

SMART is there to tell you when something is wrong with your HD. You may be
able to download a disk diagnostic App. from the HD Mfr's web-site but,
SMART already told you what is wrong, your HD is defective. Heed the
warning, it may drag on for another year or it could quit without further
notice.

LOL, JAX
