Hard Disc filling up fast!!

Hi

Having a problem with my HD. Running XP Pro on a partitioned HD ('C' has 8Gb
& 'D' has 32Gb) and despite having only 3Gb of stuff on it, 'C' is showing
6.5Gb used. I've checked all my apps., internet files, recycle bin and the
total only comes to 3Gb. It's almost as if everything I've done is stored on
'C' as well as on 'D' ('D' is where I keep all my files).

The disc wsa reformatted in January and has been working fine and fragmented
tonight to be on the safe side. The funny thing is this has happened before
and I did something which erased a big chunk from 'C'(without deleting
anything of value) and everything was great but.... I cannot remember for
the lfe of me what it was I did?!!

Can anyone be of help before I tear my hair out??

How big are your swap and hibernation files?

You might want to get a copy of Sequoia to see what is taking up the
space.

check to see how large your 'windows restore' is set to
you may want to reduce it
 
empty the recycle bins...for some reason, winxp often does not obey the
percentage settings
