Hard confusion

Guys -

I'm kinda confused about something. I have a 320gb SATA drive but when I
look in the BIOS it shows up as IDE. Is it suppose to be this way? See pic
in the link.

Thanks,

Some PCs / motherboards have a setting to let the SATA drive be seen
ad a standard IDE drive. This is to let the drive boot without
additional drivers and everything should be ok.
-----------------------------------------------

As an example, in my bios there is an option to map SATA to ide (either
primary or secondary). The SATA hard drives show up as primary master and
slave when I do that. If I leave SATA (controller) at default, the SATA
drives show up as master and slave on a non-existent 3rd ide controller.

Also, if I leave SATA (controller) at default, a 3rd ide controller shows up
in the bios summary at boot time. If I map SATA (the controller) to primary
or secondary ide in the bios setup, the 3rd ide controller does not show on
the bios summary at boot time.
