I have a new a new Dell with XP Home. About every fourth
or fifth time I start it up it stalls right before any of
the little icons come on in the bottom right corner. If
I wait several minutes I get an error message concerning
the NT-Scanner (I have the Dell All-in-One
Printer/scanner, copyer, fax). It asks me If I want to
send the error message to Microsoft to try to fix the
problem. I've sent this message about ten times. What
happens next? Does anyone ever contact me to suggest how
to fix it? I've tried both a system restore and un-
installing and re-installing the printer software. Help!

Howdy Jay,
You may or may not get a reply from MS.

Given it is a new Dell pc, suggest you make use of Dell support website. As a last resort, call Dell support.
http://support.dell.com/

But first, was the scanner a part of your new Dell? or did you add that later?
Has this symptom always happened since you had the scanner?
OR, have you changed or added something....either hardware or software?

Further, write down & post back the "whole" error message.

Use XP's Event Viewer to get more detail on your "error".
Start button/ Run / type
eventvwr.msc<enter> --
or Go to Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.
Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings that match the time the event occurred.
Double click the line that is at issue---the information may give a clue on the issue.

Get the entire entry info for this and write down & post back. Get all of it & make special note of Event ID number.
