Hanging Mouse!

Probably a silly question, but is there any quick method
or trick to getting your mouse to work again when it
simply hangs - I don't think it is anything to do with my
HP laptop as this is something that does seem to happen
to me on other PCs - I obviously dart about too much for
it. But today it has happened twice and, other than
using my keyboard to move about, the only option seems to
be to keep rebooting which is obviously a pain.

Any quick way of resolving this problem without having to
shut down all the time?

Thanks in advance of any help you can offer me!

I would at first open the mouse and clean it. Check the manual for the
device for details about how to do this.
If this does not help, reinstall the mouse driver and also scan for
newer drivers from the manufacturer of the mouse.

You haven't said what sort of mouse it is.
If it's battery powered, try changing the batteries.

You also mention a laptop (which has its own mouse on the
keyboard). You can use an external mouse but - if the
problem is on the laptop - is the correct mouse driver in
place? It SHOULD be detected and installed automatically,
but perhaps worth checking yr SyStem Device Manager to
be sure.
