I am looking to buy a 2nd hand, hand me down computer from a private
individual.

Anyone know of any good stand alone diagnostic tools to see if this computer
is worthy?

I am looking to install some diagnostic tools and put them on a flash drive,
fire up his computer and test it.

Thanks

you can test the memory by making a memtest boot floppy

just google for memtest86

as far as testing the harddrive, you need to get the diagnostic from the
harddrive mfg...so
you will need to know the brand name of the drive first

Sandra 2005 very good as far as benchmarking and will find everything
you need to know about the computer....as far as it being worthy
though...as guess you need to know what you are looking at and what you
will be using it for.

Alternatively, you could use a program like Speedfan to check
temperatures and the SMART diagnostics of the hard drives to see if
there are any problems.

Connect it on-line and run the tests at www.pcpitstop.com
