JR,
The most probable problem is that you have used ReForce, or a program like
ReForce, to strip unwanted refresh rates from your display. This will NOT
cause problems for anyone in 99% of applications and games. However, if an
application or game requests a specific refresh rate... one that has been
filtered out by ReForce or a like... then you might run into a problem. This
is what you are experiencing. Rather than re-installing the drivers to get
the default set of refresh rates back, simply do this:
1. You want to explicitly tell Halo to use a specific refresh rate.
2. Figure out what resolution you want to run at, and what refresh rate that
resolution uses. (In my case this would be 1024x768@100hz)
3. Edit your Halo shortcut and add the following to the end of the command
immediately after ...halo.exe" -vidmode x,y,z (where x is the horizontal
resolution, y is the vertical resolution and z is the refresh rate. In my
case the whole shortcut looks like this - "C:\3dfx stuff\Halo
Trial\halo.exe" -vidmode 1024,768,100
hope that helps.
