i made it off autumn, and i'm on a planet, and then the
game crashes at some point shortly thereafter. it even
restarted the PC a few of the times until i disabled that
fun feature in winXP. Checking the Event Viewer i see
this: Faulting application halo.exe, version 1.0.0.564,
faulting module d3d9.dll, version 5.3.1.902, fault address
0x0004a24f. The fault addresses differ sometimes.
Anyone have an idea as to how i can fix this?
<addendum>
all drivers imaginable were updated, and am running DX9.
Now i get a BSOD with the error
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
system is an AMD XP1800, 768MB PC133 RAM, GeForce 2 MX400
64M

Hey Joneser
Did you install/update your motherboard chipset drivers with everything
else? Not having these installed often causes problems like this.
0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is generally caused by bad drivers or
faulty hardware/incompatible software and hardware which caused a
kernel-mode process, or driver to access a memory location to which it did
not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was
too high.

Hi Joneser,

Make sure that no programs are running that could cause
interference with the game and then try lowering the video
setup settings in HALO and turning off some of the more
advanced settings since the Geforce2 MX just meets the
requirements of the game. You can try some command
line switches as well instead or in addition to the above:

-safemode

Disables as much as possible from the game.

-window

Runs the game in a window.

-width640

Forces the game to run at 640x480.

-vidmode w,h,r

Forces the game to run at width, height, refresh rate.
