Hi all, I note from the MS site this file
is installed when using Multiprocessors where it
says, (ACPI Multiprocessor PC), in the device manager in XP. (which mine
says). I'm using a CPU with HT.

And hal.ddl is installed for one CPU systems.

Where is halmacpi.dll meant to install
to?? This file is installed BUT in

C:/Windows/ServicePackfiles/i386.

Shouldn't it be in C:/Windows/system32? The same
place as hal.dll? I have a feeling this is why my system
is rebooting, and ntoskrnl.exe is the cause of these
crashes/reboots.

If halmacpi.dll is MEANT to be in the system32 folder
can someone show or tell me what I should do to fix
it.

Thanx

So, why does it show ACPI multiprocessor PC?
under device manager and the MS site shows
halmacpi.dll as the file XP installs for it? If it isn't?

There are 2 CPU's in Task Manager. An ASUS
program I use detects HT. BUT the file MS
supposedly says installs is only in the SP folder
not the main Windows folder? hal.dll is in the
system32 folder, and the MS site says thats only
for standard PC's. If mine was a Standard PC
it would say Standard PC under device manager
