ok folks, i hope you can help

i have a very annoying problem with networking two computers together

the network is setup through a "Crossover Cable", and one computer is
connected to the internet via a "DSL Connection"

one computer is a Desktop machine running WinXP Pro, which is the main
computer, connected to the internet. the other machine is a Laptop
mchine running WinXP Home.

i have got it so that the Laptop machine can access the internet,
however the problem is with "File Sharing"

i cannot get both machines to see each other in the "My Network
Places". i have gone through every setting, and they are the same. i
have designated individual "IP Addresses" and individual "Computer
Names" on the exact same "Workgroup". "Subnet Masks" are the same. i
have tried with setting "Firewalls" to accept each machines "IP
Addresses", and even tried it with "Firewalls" disabled. This includes
the built in Microsoft Firewall disabled

i have gone through many "Networking" websites, including "Microsofts
Support" websites. nothing has helped

any help is welcome, big time, as "File Sharing" is highly needed

if you have any questions, ask away

Have you shared at least one folder on each PC?
