I was trying halflife 2 demo and i could not belive i had to download files for it.

God sake this is a demo.

I know the full game need download files.

but even 56k user can,t even play the demo version.

it was 30mins to download file on the demo version.

So i cancel it.

That does seem silly if there are extra files to download! Was it downloading an optional update, or was it doing the initial download that the full version does too?

same as the full version.

Click the stream icon and it wanted to connect to the net.

No wonder they lost out

you need a net connection to play though

yep but it is un fair not everyone is on high speed internet.

Some are still on 56k or no net at all.

Did they take this in. No they did,nt at all.

Ok to play online like gamespy is ok. But to download files over 50megs just to play the normal game is daft and is not right.

its a bit of a waste downloading Half life 2 demo, you might as well not bother if you have 56k speed...

i was one of the few who downloaded steam on 28.8k, took an entire weekend but was worth it:)

you dont need 50 meg to download them files, pretty much any broadband speed will get you by :)

this is one reason i dont play HL2 anymore, the fact that you have to activate steam online. too much of a hassle.
