Hello,

Need some advice, trying to play the above game and it will just freeze or slow right down, Half life 2 plays fine no problems just this game, PC spec is AMD 64Bit 4000 abit motherboard and 1Gb or memory, also 256 6800GT graphics card, does anyone have any ideas,

Wes

When did the problem occur?
Had you installed or removed anything before the problem started?

Hello,

Problems seems to be when all the action kicks off, half life 2 plays fine on full graphics so just installed the new one which was fine at the start now either runs so slowly you have to quit out or freeze, ive tried new video drivers and no different,

Strange, i have a slightly lesser system than yours and it ran fine on medium settings... try running on medium :)

Might be something to do with the HDR setting, Half Life 2 doesnt have it, but Half Life 2: Episode 1 does. Try turning it off and giving it a go.

try turning off anti-aliasing.. and keeping things at medium/high.

what does the reccomended settings suggest? they were generous for me with most settings high.

what resolution are you playing at?

I know it's kinda obvious, but - update to latest video, audio and chipset drivers.

Bios too, if there's a new one.

That system should easily run HL2EP1 at medium res.

Well I have basicly the same spec system and i can run it flawlessly 90% maxed out on everything including anti analising and the other one with a res of 1280x1024.

Maybe heat could be an issue, what temp is your GPU getting? anything over the mid 70's should be abit worrying and would probably cause the crashing.

yeah should do:confused:

he might have an uber high resolution which explains the slowdown.... but its probably an overheat issue.

Im running at 1024 res and all high details as this was the default it gave me CPU is at 48 to 56 while playing the game,

If the case cost that much it must be something like Antec, Coolermaster, Thermaltake or something along those lines, and they' would of put a quality PSU in me thinks.

Yup:thumb:.

its a long shot but... have you cleaned out the inside of your pc at all? might of accumulated dust/dirt etc which could cause slowdown, happened to me
