Half Circle?

Is there any way to get a true half circle?

There is something called a "chord" as one of the shapes..but it doesn't
have crisp corners...and seems to be a bit more than half of the circle.

I have a grid of 9 circles and 3 of them are on the edge of the slide. It
views okay because they are hanging off the slide area, but the OCD part of
me is driven crazy by this and I would prefer if I could chop them all in
half.

I've tried drawing them freehand and my hand just isn't that steady, I've
also tried to edit the "pie" shape....and that didn't work all that well
either.

Am I asking PPT to just do too much?

Christine,

In the Shapes dialog, just to the left of Chord, is a Pie graphic. It will
default to a 3/4 pie, but you can drag on the yellow handles to create your
half pie.

Another option is to create a full circle and place a rectangle on top of it
to cover half the circle. Format the rectangle Fill to Slide background
fill. Group the two objects together. You can choose another shape besides
rectangle if you want as long as it covers half the circle.

Another way is to create a pie chart with 2 parts, cut it, paste special as
EMF and ungroup twice. Delete extraneous parts.

You can't have too many cakes so here's another way!

Hold down shift and insert a filled circle using the Oval tool.

Cut > Paste Special as EMF and ungroup twice. Seperate the (3) shapes.

With the filled shape go to right click > edit points and then hold down
ctrl and click a point to delete it (you'll probably need to delete the same
point twice)

Thanks Everyone!

Sandy I used your advice and it worked like a charm! Since I'm not using
PPT 2007 every day yet (I don't get upgraded until the end of NEXT month!),
I'm still not up to speed on the little stuff. The circles (and half
circles) were part of a theme I was developing on my test laptop.

Glenna I would have used your option if the half circle wasn't on the edge
of the slide (have done so in the past when stuck) but I didn't want to have
objects hanging off the slide area, especially in a theme that is going to be
pushed out to thousands of people!

Echo...I did try breaking apart a pie chart...but didn't realize I needed to
use paste special to get ungroup to work. I'll keep that in my toolbox for
future use!
