Been getting an error in XP right on power up. "hal.dll
file mising or corupt" "reinstall file" I've tried ALL the
fixes that Microsoft suggests in their Knowledge Base
articles but none seem to work. Anyone ever have this
problem and gotten a fix?

You'll probably need to expand the file from the CD.
Type this command:
expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ (substitute "d" for the letter of your CD drive)
c:\windows\system32\hal.dll.
Substitute d: for the drive letter of your CD.
Once the file is expanded exit the Recovery Console and restart the
computer.
