Hacked and hopeless!

Run an AV scan and see if the QHOST virus is on there. That manipulates the
HOSTS file and makes a reg change to alter the default path to a random
place somewhere else on your system. Check with the AV sites for more info
on it.

Can also be an adware piece unexpectedly installed. Run Adaware 6.0 tp
eradicate them.

To actually see what is in your local cache on a client, run this:

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /displaydns

If a boatload of stuff comes up or anything other than the default entry:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Then either you put something in there or something's got you.

Ad aware di not find a lot of "Crap" on my machine but did not solve the
problem.

Norton antivirus crashed while probably attempting to remove the various. I
had to uninstalled it to be able to acces my PC again.
Do you guys no any good AV program i can purchase online?

Yes, you can get BitDefender from

www.bitdefender.com

It is most definitely one of the best anti-virus programmes currently on the
market. Professional version comes with a firewall, do not know about other
versions.

You're welcome!

Usually I have good results with Norton. Surprised you had a problem, unless
you had some other virus on the machine that tried to disable Norton. Some
viruses do that, they try to disable ALL antivirus programs on your machine
and it really causes numerous problems, such as what you saw.

Well thanks, i will give it a try and probably purchase the professioanal
version. But for now i will go for a clean up and reinstall of my system. I
use to beleive that virious attack always happened to other people and not
me , but from now on i ll open my eyes a bit more...
