H/P Pavilion locks up after RAM upgrade

H/P Pavilion locks up after RAM upgrade.went to 512MB of
RAM locks up several times a day. OK when I reduce it to
256MB or 356MB.
 
What model number HP makes lots of models under the genera;
Pavilion name.

512W H/P said the memory would work up to 512MB running it with 384 now.

i find burning the iso easiest

if it turns up errors, if might be that the memory is too low of quality for your computer, and you might be able to get it to be stable if you lower your memory bus speed or timings in bios (allthough name brand machines are generally lacking in these as to avoid tech support headaches)
