I'm afraid that after leaving sooty at my parents whilst I was away he never returned. The last time he was see was thursday the 12th before I got back :(
So over 2 and half weeks now and still nothing.

Think i'm gonna have to give up on him. He's never ever been away for this length of period before :'(

Miss him terribly....

Really sorry to hear this TriplexDread.
Dont give up hope some cats do find their way home even after a long period of time.:thumb:

Terribly sorry to hear this TD, but Feckit is right. Some years ago, one of our cats took fright when someone broke a panel in our back door during the night. We searched and searched for him, eventually giving up hope of seeing him again. A whole month passed before he turned up again, much, much thinner, and still very nervous after his ordeal of living rough during that time. But he did return, so don't give up hope just yet. I really hope that Sooty will show-up again too:nod: Best of luck TD, fingers tightly crossed here.

Taa however im not sure he will. He was still at my parents when he disappeared so I will remain sceptical for now. Thanks tho for your words of concern peeps

Much appreciated, as I said only time will tell....

Sorry to here that TD - I lost a puppet once, he was called 'RockyRacoon' and was kidnapped for ransom, they sent photos of him to me from all over the world - very distressing http://www.traker.demon.co.uk/Rocky.html

In all seriousness mate - I hope sooty returns soon :(

I've also had a cat go walkabout in the past. he turned up unexpectedly about five weeks later.

Cats are weird. Which is why I like 'em :)

Chin up mate and hope for the best.

I'm so sorry mate, I know it's the 'not knowing' that's the hardest. But cats are very weird. I used to have a cat that would go walkabout occasionally. Usually just for a few days, but once when I was in hospital for 2 weeks & a friend was feeding my cats, Zephyr went missing after a day or two. The friend thought she must've been hit by a car, but when I finally got home about 2 & half weeks later she just turned up within 48 hours. Again, pretty thin & flighty as she wasn't used to being around people anymore. But she just settled in again & was fine. If Sooty's love is more for you than for the 'lifestyle' she may have gone looking for you & may still turn up yet.
I can say without a doubt that, no matter how much I might love them & vise-versa, none of my other cats would've done such a thing. If I was gone they'd maybe miss me a bit, but they'd settle in with the new person soon enough.
But some cats are special.
I also know that hope is the most painful thing to hold on to in this sort of situation.
But nevertheless, don't give up hope yet.
Sorry mate :(

Shame mate, i'd be gutted if i lost one of my cats.

I assume you've been round the area looking for him? Apparantly cats can find their way home even from miles and miles away. They use the sun etc to find exact locations. :-) Clever beasts.

What about sticking up posters?
