guru hunting

Evan

I will try this peer-to-peer, more. I have not been successful, so
far, in accessing a Word guru thru microsoft or any other company.

Meanwhile I am also continuing looking for someone to help me via
telephone occasionally, and would appreciate any references.

I thought it would be easy to Google a set of people advertising on
the web offering the kind of service I want. I've spent some time
Googling, and Groups-Googling, and to my surprise I didn't find
anyone.

Given the lay of the land, it seems to me what I'm looking for is much
closer to peer-to-peer than corporate. Maybe part of my problem is
that I don't expect to get too much of 'something for nothing': so I
do want to offer money. Maybe it's more fitting if I offer my
services. I am an expert writer and editor, and am willing to offer
my services in return to anyone who helps me.

Hi Evan,

You have Word gurus from all over the world at your disposal in the
Microsoft public newsgroups. :-)

Using peer-to-peer forums is not necessarily 'getting something for
nothing'. More often than not those who find answers in the newsgroups
stick around and help others. If you want to learn more about Word
then this is the place to be!

Also I noticed you switched to Google to access the newsgroups (good
for you - it appears WordForms.com has some problems syncing with
NNTP). If you have Outlook Express then that is the best method to
use. This link should start OE and add this newsgroup for you:

Hi Evan,

I would suggest that you visit http://www.mvps.org/word/index.html, some
pages of which you have been referred to by some of my fellow MVPs in
response to your later post, and also to fellow MVP, Shauna Kelly's website
to which you will find a link under the About MVPs tab on the site.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.
Hope this helps
Doug Robbins - Word MVP
