Gspot thinks that the DV-AVI files captured (from Sony TRV-38) using MM2 are
corrupt. The files are OK, though.. they play and can be used by MM2
without any problems.

If I render a clip in MM2 saved in DV-AVI format, GSpot is still unable to
show me the codec information for that file.

Who wrote the DV codec used by MS? Anyone knows if MS wrote it themselves?
Or did they license it from some established vendor?

Thanks.

It's probably somewhere between needing a newer version of GSpot... check
the latest.... and the DV-AVI files from MM2 being the newer type 1 files.

I downloaded and installed GSpot for the first time yesterday.

Do you see similar behavior by GSpot vis a vis MM2 captured or rendered
DV-AVI files?

Hi Aloke,

I'm seeing n.a. in the video codec info fields, but I'm not getting any
messages about the file being corrupt.

I too see that behavior for clips rendered by MM2.

However, for clips simply captured by MM2 (an entire DV tape, in my case),
here's what GSpot 2.21 says in the File:Stat field:

Corrupt AVI header (click for details)

That says: "This is an invalid AVI file due to corruption of the data in the
header. This is a serious problem, and the file is not likely playable.

Details: While processing chunk /RIFF:AVI, found bad length value 1069380612
at file offset 0x00007ff8"

DirectShow render (at the bottom of GSpot) is successful. And the file
plays and edits fine.
