Today I feel let down badly by microsoft, it appears that
there's no simple method of adding menu icons to my
project without using expensive 3rd party software or
writing so much code it hardly seems like it worth the
effort, oh why oh why oh why have they done this to us
and why wasn't such an obvious feature built into the
framework :(

ok I got that working and the icon display is fine but...

the 3d effect and gradient shading on the menu item
highlight is super ugly if only I could find out which
parts of the module draw these so I could remove them and
just leave the icon !

thanks for the pointer

Regards Steve

AFAIK this will be easier in the next release of VS.NET, Whidbey.

You know...

You make it sound like Whidbey is just the solution to all programming
problems. Much like the original versions of .NET according to the
evangilists that promoted it. =)

Will Whidbey cook and clean too Herfried, and make love like a woman? or
man? or both at the same time? or two women and one man? I'm expecting to
see that in the feature set right on the box!
=)

LOL... I don't promote Whidbey, but I hope it will be better. What I
saw in the alpha version was very impressive.

I hope it will do that.

HI CJ,

I did want to write, "he is young let him in his believe" but I skipped it
while I did not want to harm Herfried

Now I can do it, he persist in his believe. And maybe it will be will it be.

The linear gradient brush used in drawing the selected item is withing the
code on that page the OHM posted. The shadow surrounding the menu I think
is an OS feature and you'd have to disable it in the OS.

wow - wouldn't that make every college geek programmer
wannabe excited!

who needs a woman? i got whidbey!
they can take their laptops to dances.... wait, i already
did that.....

Mmm.. thats a nice fantasy and all taking a laptop to a dance.. however,
isn't the point we take a girl to a dance is the activities we hope to
inspire after the dance?

In which case, we could program it to skip that?

=)

Bling...

Praise to the Uber Nerd Joke!!!!

No really, I found that funny, only us geeks would get that. =) See, people
say programmers have no sense of humor. Whatever, we are just really good
at english and get subtle jokes. =)

Bling again...
