I am using group policies to disallow users from accessing any resources on their workstation. Users are not able to see their C- and D-drive and are not able to install any applications.

However, implementation of the user policies has the result that users are not able to go to their home-drive by typing H:\ (or other network shares) in the address bar of explorer of Internet Explorer. They get an Access Denied. Users are able to go to their homedrive through My computer so there are no user restrictions on their Homedrive or any other network shares.

Besides user policies we also use computer policies. However, when I remove the user policy form the OU where the test user is situated without removing the policy from the OU where the computer is stored, the problem is gone.

Does anybody know which policy setting is responsible for the access denied.

Regards,
Rodney

Rodney,

Check out the policy below and see if it is the culprit:

"Hide these specified drives in My computer" - User Config\Admin
Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer

Unfortunately this does not solve my problem. I tried to disable it or enable with no restriction on any drives but it doesn't help
