I need to find out how to turn off our workstation firewalls through a group
policy so that we don't need to physically touch each workstation. All
suggestions welcomed.

Assuming the client computers are XP Pro edit or create a Group Policy and
link it to an OU that contains the computers to want to affect and go to
computer configuration/administrative templates/network/network
connections/Windows Firewall. You will see folders there for domain and
standard profile. The domain profile is applied when domain computer is on
your domain network and standard profile is applied when the computer is off
the domain network such as a roaming laptop. Disable the setting for Windows
Firewall: protect all network connections to disable the Windows Firewall.
