Hello all,

Don't know if this is the place to post this but here it goes. I have about
20 XP pro machines that I support they are on a Novell server environment.
They only use the file services from the Novell server. I have been asked to
deploy some sort of group policy to all computers. The problem is that in
order to do this from a Novell server you would need ZenWorks or something
like that. They do not want to pay for that.

Is there a way to create a policy on one comptuer and export it and then
import in on the rest? I know this will be a headache but this is what the
want. they don't want people changing their computer settings and installing
junk that may have spyware in it, etc... Any help out there?
Thanks,
Jayser.

I can think of two possible options for "user" settings. One would be to try
and configure one computer the way you want it and then copy the
Windows\system32\grouppolicy\user\registry.pol from that computer to another
computer. Understand however that by default that local Group Policy will
apply to ALL users that logon to a non AD domain computer and could even
lock out an administrator though Group Policy should be able to be managed
remotely with the mmc snapin for Group Policy and then selecting another
computer to manage. A better option may be to look at the free Shared
Computer Toolkit from Microsoft. Offhand I don't know if you can copy
configuration from one computer to another but it cones with great
domaumenaton and has it's own newsgroup called
Microsoft.public.Windows.sharedaccess where you could post further
questions. --- Steve
