I am using Server 2003 and XP systems. I was hoping that I could create a
group policy that only allows a PC to visit pre-defined web sites. IE
Management could define access to {*.microsoft.com, *.hotmail.com,
*.whitehouse.gov, etc}. All others not in the list would fail. This would
also be great in schools and libraries.
I don't want to use a proxy server since the list is under 10.
Don't have a real answer John. I thinking that some sort of "wildcard" entry
in a content advisor or other such software *might* be a possible avenue,
albeit quite unwieldy - perhaps even impossible. You could perhaps make all
internet zones "restricted zones" except for trusted zones and place only
the sites you want into it. Although that won't block access, but will
merely curtail flexibility of use within those websites.
Since this isn't an issue I've ventured into I'd have to say it is time to
Google, unless someone of wisdom in having simple solutions ambles along.
