Hi Everyone:

Here is my situation.

I have a windows 2000 machine that is joined to a Domain. The Group Policy
for the workstation is set so that only one account can log on locally (a
non-admin account) The issue I am having is that the NIC in this machine
died and I now have no Admin access to the machine what so ever. I cannot
add new hardware, I can't un-join from the domain, etc.

The only access I have is:

1) Through the Recovery Console
2) A have a recovery tool that lets me edit the registry and SAM database.
3) Log on as the cached Domain user (non-admin)

Is there anyone out there who has an answer for me? I would really hate to
have to re-build this machine.

Thanks.

open users & computers from domain server,
open the workstation you need a admin account on,
add an admin account this way.

Try replacing the nic with the same model to see if it will then at least
logon the "computer" to the domain when it boots up and then you can move it
to an OU where you can have an overriding GPO to allow other users to logon
locally. Otherwise try an inplace upgrade install as described below after
putting in a new nic which will keep applications and data in place but
require first an install of a service pack and then all critical
pdates. --- Steve
