Group Policy Logon scripts not running over VPN

Having read the many postings regarding this sort of problem, I
believe that I have managed to configure the group policy settings
correctly, indeed, I'm sure that the scripts are being applied but are
not actually running. When I run gpresult /s the following relevant
snippet appears to indicate that my scripts have been applied!

===============================================================
The user received "Scripts" settings from these GPOs:

ScriptTest
Revision Number: 2 (Active Directory) 2 (Sysvol)
Unique Name: {A4679450-90E4-4871-B36D-55A489E36DDD}
Domain Name: lrf.leeds.ac.uk
Linked to: Domain (DC=lrf,DC=leeds,DC=ac,DC=uk)

Logon scripts specified in: ScriptTest
wshNonModalDlg_test.vbs
IanLogon.bat

===============================================================

The first vbscript file (incidentally this works fine when logging on
directly onto the LAN) does not display or appear to run, despite the
fact that the above indicates that the script has been received. The
test vbscript file simply displays a small form with a few logo's and
requests the user to start running the script. Nothing however
appears. If I do not include the small gif files that the script
tries to load, then I get a runtime error reported that it is unable
to load the gif's. So what is happening....is it running or not. I'm
totally bemused.

The second .bat file simply echoes some lines of comments to screen
and does a few network mappings....this too does not appear to run.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure now that my scripts are being applied, but for some
reason are not running.

As mentioned below, if I rename one of the gif files, then I get a
vbscript runtime error saying in a nutshell that it could not find one
of the gifs!

I then changed my group policy and excluded the vbscript file, and
instead placed a small exe file there. When I next logged in, this
ran correctly, both on the LAN and over the VPN.

So...no problem there then...scripts are being applied, but a simple
vbscript will not run, or appears not to be running. I'm not sure
where to look now, as I cannot understand why the script is not
displaying correctly.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Regards

Ian
