Group Policy for Empty Deleted Items folder upon Exit causing problems

We have experienced a problem with the "Empty Deleted Items folder upon Exit" policy. With that policy enabled, it does not appear to sync the Deleted Items folder in cached mode. So if we try to Recover deleted items, it never shows in the Deleted Items folder unless we either a. change that group policy to Not Configured or b. turn off caching on the client. Neither option is a solution for us

It sounds like it has been sent to MS development, but that was back in mid March and no new info has been posted. Is this something that I am going to need to call into MS support
