I just completed a "distructive" recovery on my home desktop that uses XP
pro. Unfortunately, I am undergoing a host of odd issues i didn't expect by
doing a complete recovery, anyway that's another cluster I'm dealing with.
Anyhow, my current irritation is while trying to update the local securiy
policy, I keep getting a popup that begins : "The Group Policy security
settings that apply to this machine could not be determined.". I am home. I
am NOT on a domain. I am only on my home "lan" that does nothing more that
connect my husband's pc (xp home), my printer, and my pc via a router. No
server is involved. I configure security policy individually on each
hardware. Why am I getting these popups and how can I make it STOP. I've
tried to find solutions, but it's an archeological expedition and the closes
thing I get is lenthy articles on Win2000, Win2003, or Vista that don't tell
me directly how to fix this. Please help! Thanks in advance.
