Hi,

Can anyone help please why group policies and profiles
don't work across the WAN. We have 3 sites interlinked
with each other using broadband/cisco 803 routers. The
server/PDC is at one of these sites and the users in
other 2 sites also get authenticated by this server.

ANy policy or profile created work in the LAN but across
WAN it doesnt.

Thanks in advance,

Meghn

Hi -

Not all group policies run across a WAN by default.

- Registry and Security settings are always applied.
- EFS and IP Security Settings are applied by default.
- Application Deployment, Scripts, Folder Redirection,
and Disk Quotas are NOT applied by default over slow
links.

Here's a pretty good readmy on GPO troubleshooting -

Hope this helps -

Thank you for this. What is the other way to work this
out except for editing the registry.

You could push the .adm files out with a login script and
use local policies to reinforce domain policies - that
way you wouldn't have to do any registry editing.

Hope this helps -

Sorry !! tried hard but its not working. Please can you
tell me the steps you follow, to edit the login script
for .adm files.
