Hi

Do groups work the same way within a Organisational Units as do Users when
apply group policies?

I first did this exercise:
1.Created Organisational Unit
2.Created Group policy for the above OU
3.Created logon script for above
4.Adjusted Admin templates for above
5.Created Users for the above OU
6.Logged on from client with above users.
Everything worked fine.

I then did this exercise:
1.Created Organisational Unit
2.Created Group policy for the above OU
3.Created logon script for above
4.Adjusted Admin templates for above
5.Created a security group for the above OU
6.Created user for the abouve security group
7.Logged on from client
Nothing worked at all.

Are groups supposed to work this way or have I missed something?

Thanks in advance

Mick

Hi Mick,

Policies will only work for users, groups, or machines that are
contained within the OU. You also have to grant the Read and Apply
right to the user or group that you want to receive the policy. By
default Authenticated Users have that right. You would also need to
grant your new Security Group the Read and Apply right.

For more information about Group Policy, see the "Understanding Group
Policy" topic in Windows 2000 Help.
