With XP I can group by name and sort by name, which grouped files/folders
into individual groups beginning with A..B..C etc, since moving to Vista it
is now grouping A-H I-P and Q-Z. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD IT DO THIS BY
DEFAULT? I've got over 2000 files and folders in a folder and half of them
are all grouped together.

Is there a way to change this to group by individual letters rather than the
range? PLEASE!

It wouldn't be so bad if when I sort by name it put them all in order by
name, but it puts the folders in order, then under them it puts the files in
order.

has a solution been found yet?
the default groups are so large, they defeat the point!

What is it that you are trying to accomplish?

There are a long list of views that can be applied to folders and files. If
the files and folders appear too large, you need to use the View Menu to
select a smaller icon size or use Details, List, or Tiles view.

You have other options for customizing a folder which will change the way it
is viewed. Right click a folder and select Properties/Customize Tab. In the
drop down menu, you will see All Items, Documents, Music, etc.

Within each folder you can also right click and you will see options for
Sort, Group By, Stack By, etc. These menus have a More... option where you
can select the columns, from a long list, that are displayed.
