When I search for a work group computer I find it on the
netwrk and I am able to access it. How do I show all the
work group computers on my desktop?

To create a desktop shortcut to a computer in the workgroup:

1. Open My Network Places.
2. Click "View workgroup computers".
3. Drag and drop a computer to the desktop.

Thank you, Steve for your reply. The only computer I see
is my own. None of the others are visible.

When you search for and find a computer, drag and drop the computer's
icon onto the desktop.

Make sure that NetBIOS Over TCP/IP is enabled on all computers:

1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Right click the local area network connection and click Properties.
3. Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Click Advanced.
5. Click WINS.
6. Click the Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP button.

Why enable NetBIOS? The only protocol I have active on either of my
systems is TCP/IP. They see each other just fine.

You're confusing NetBIOS with NetBEUI (who thinks of these names?),
which I think we've all done at one time or another.

NetBIOS is an applications programming interface (API). NetBEUI is a
transport protocol.

File and Printer Sharing requires NetBIOS. Nothing in Windows
networking requires NetBEUI.

The NetBIOS API must be enabled over one of the transport protocols:
NetBEUI, TCP/IP, or NWLink IPX/SPX. Networks that use TCP/IP for File
and Printer Sharing require NetBIOS Over TCP/IP, also known as NetBT.

Whoops...you were right, I was thinking NetBEUI. Yes, NetBIOS is
enabled in TCP/IP in my systems. Should have checked what I was
typing a little closer.
