Group access not working

I am running Windows 2000 in Mixed Mode and have set up the following
security groups:

"install application" - domain local
"deny application" - domain local

on the application GPO properties, i set up each group to apply and
deny accordingly.

My problem is that when I add a group to the "install application"
group (for example, "domain computers") so that they have access to
the application, it appears to still deny access and gpresult shows:

Filtering: Denied (Security)

Any ideas why this is happening?

After you add a user to a group, the user needs to logout and logon, as his
security token is generated during logon process.
