green vertical lines in media player

windows xp, sp2 and all current updates. Windows Media player 11. New
computer, fresh install of windows. It did the same thing before I searched
for every updated driver or windows update out there. it is doing the same
thing described in this link but it is talking about Vista.

I have spent alot of time trying to correct this problem. Any ideas would
be appreciated.
