green cast with 8500dv

I've just got an 8500dv from ebay. I can't yet install the windows
drivers - but that another post. It's replacing ( or expected to replace
) a geforce mx400.

When i boot up in linux or windows vga, I get a pronounced green cast.
Even the boot screens are green/gray. I've tried two monitors, both of
which work fine with other cards.

Any hints?

Check to make sure the DVI - VGA adapter is connected firmly to the
video board. Sometimes the adapter gets hungup on the case and soesn't
make good contact to the video DVI connector.
