I found a great program and I wanted to pass it on to the very help ful
people in this group. It is called G6 Auto Zip. It allows me to zip the
folders I back up everyday. All my documents and ministry files. It uses
and easy to edit ini file. It says you can use task manager in XP to do it
for you, but I like editing the ini file.

If you are like me and back up your files every day, go check it out. I
downloaded my copy from Web Attack.

That's at best a fair program. My Own Backup is much better in my opinion:

ummmm.... it states on that page:

"The only downside to the program is it doesn't run on Windows Me,
2000, or XP "

I guess it's "better" only for those not using any of the
aforementioned OS's !

I use My Own Backup v2.1 in WinXP. I only upgraded from Win98SE a
couple of months ago, I didn't even know it wasn't supposed to work.
Try it, you might be surprised. ;o)
PS-I don't use any compression and my file system is Fat 32.

Hello Guys,
I used My Own Backup Ver 2.1 for several months on Win ME with no problems.
Did a restore a couple of times, worked perfectly.
MOB compresses your directory and sub-directories in to ONE zip file. If
that .zip file becomes corrupted then you lose ALL the backup.
IMHO, a much better alternative which I now use is PolderBackup which does
a similar thing but creates a .zip file for each individual file in your
directory. In this case if a .zip file craps out you only lose that
particular file instead of the whole directory. You might expect this to be
very slow but it isn't. Can't remember where I found it now, it is freeware
although it asks for a donation from time to time. Do a Google search on
PolderBackup.

Love the sig. I collect these, since one of my in-laws is a lawyer and I
need ammo for when I see him. The latest I was able to fire at him was
that "It's been so cold I even saw a lawyer walking around with his
hands in his own pockets!"
