Grayed out setting

Under Tools -> Options -> General, my selection to make Windows Mail default
News Handler is grayed out and I can't select it. I am the only user of my
machine, running Vista, and I am an adminstrator on it. Any ideas?
 
There is no option for News reader (I assume you mean in Iternet
Options/Control Panel) When I go to the Programs
tab of Internet Options, I get 4 options, 1 of which is "Set Program Access
and Computer Defaults". From there I can change the Web Browser, EMail
program (Outlook), Media Player, Instant Mesg. Program, or Virtual Machine
for Java. There is no option for newsreader.
 
No. Default Programs is a separate applet that you can get to
either via the start menu or the Control Panel.
